I have always found Budapest so beautiful! The River Danube splits the city into two parts, and it makes the city such a magical place. Whenever anyone asks me about where to stay in Budapest, I recommend booking a place with a river view.
The hotels on the Pest side overlook the river and have stunning views of Buda (Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion). The hotels on the Buda side overlook Pest and you get amazing views of the Parliament and the river. So, when booking a hotel, you should consider which side you want to stay on.
There are many hotels in Budapest with a river view, but not all of them have great views. Some of the best ones are the InterContinental and Marriott on the Pest side, and Hilton on the Buda side.

INTERCONTINENTAL BUDAPEST

The Best Hotels in Budapest with a River View
1. InterContinental Budapest

Book InterContinental Budapest here – Hotel with the most epic views in Budapest
Views: River Danube, Buda Castle, Chain Bridge, Fisherman’s Bastion
⭐ Rating: 8.9/10 stars | 📍Location: Danube Promenade (Pest side) | Check Rates and Availability
The InterContinental Hotel is one of the best hotels in Budapest with river views! It is located right on the Danube Promenade (riverbank on the Pest side) and has epic views of the River Danube, Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion and the Chain Bridge. The hotel is on the Pest side, so you’ll get the views of the Buda side of the city.
When booking a stay here, make sure to book a room with the river view (some rooms come only with a city view), so make sure to select the room with a river view. One of the best rooms is the Castle Suite on the top floor. It has wall-to-wall windows and the view is amazing from here!
The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, and massage services. They provide an airport shuttle for an extra cost.
The InterContinental Hotel is on the Pest side of Budapest and major attractions can be easily accessed. Many places are in walking distance, such as the Parliament, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Chain Bridge, and Funicular that takes you up to the Buda Castle.
It is also well-connected to public transport (underground, tram, bus) to visit other places in Budapest like the Heroes’ Square or Széchenyi Thermal Baths. If you are visiting during Christmas, the Christmas Markets are also in walking distance.
✅ Book the InterContinental Hotel in Budapest: I recommend booking the Castle Suite for the best views of the city!
2. Marriott Hotel Budapest

Book Marriott Hotel here – All the rooms come with a river view!
Views: River Danube, Buda Castle, Chain Bridge, Fisherman’s Bastion
⭐ Rating: 9/10 stars | 📍Location: Danube Promenade (Pest side) | Check Rates and Availability
The Marriott Hotel Budapest doesn’t look that great from the outside, but it has epic views of the river and major attractions like the Buda Castle and Chain Bridge. The views are similar as at the InterContinental Hotel (I may prefer the views at the InterContinental a bit more to be honest). But still, the views are pretty epic, and in my opinion, it’s the second best option for hotels in Budapest with river views.
When I was looking to book a hotel for my friends coming to visit Budapest, I was surprised to find out that all of its rooms come with a river view! Some rooms have better views than the others, so if you are planning to stay here, I recommend booking one of the suites on the higher floors. They have the best views!
The Marriott Hotel Budapest is also a great place to relax and recharge. It has a gym, sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi. The breakfast is included only for some of the rooms, otherwise, if you want to have breakfast at the hotel, you have to pay extra.
My favourite thing about the Marriott Hotel is its rooftop bar. The bar is on the 9th floor and you get epic views of the Buda Castle, River Danube, Chain Bridge and Fisherman’s Bastion. The sunset and evening views are the best! You can hang out at this rooftop bar even if you are not staying at the hotel.
The hotel is located close to major attractions in the city center (St. Stephen’s Basilica, Chain Bridge, Parliament), the Vaci Shopping Street, as well as the Christmas Markets in the winter. Lots of the river cruises also start from near the Marriott Hotel.
✅ Book a room at the Marriott Hotel Budapest: All rooms come with a river view but I recommend staying at their suites for the best views!
3. Hilton Budapest

Book Hilton Budapest here – Best Hotel in Budapest with views of the Danube and Parliament
Views: Parliament & River Danube
⭐ Rating: 8.9/10 stars | 📍Location: Buda side (near Fisherman’s Bastion) | Check Rates and Availability
The Hilton Budapest is located near the Fisherman’s Bastion (Castle District) on the Buda side of the city. Staying in a hotel on the Pest side make it easier to access the major attractions in the city, but staying on the Buda side is great if you are looking for a quieter place.
As the Hilton is on the Buda side, from the hotel you get epic views of attractions on the Pest side of the city, such as the Parliament. The river view is also beautiful, and you also get a view of the Chain Bridge.
Some rooms don’t come with a river view, so be careful when making a booking, and only book a room with the river view. My favourite rooms at the Hilton Budapest are the suites. They have amazing views of the Parliament and the river, and the King Danube River Suit also comes access to the Executive Lounge.
The Castle District in Budapest is one of the upscale parts of the city, and both the Fisherman’s Bastion and Buda Castle are in short walking distance. To get over to the Pest side, you can get a taxi, use public transport, take the Funicular, or walk all the way across the Chain Bridge into Pest.
Breakfast is not included in all rooms, but if you book it well in advance, you’ll have a better chance at finding an option that includes breakfast as well.
For me, the only downside of the hotel is that it doesn’t have a swimming pool. If it had a swimming pool, it would be the perfect place in Budapest. Otherwise, the hotel has a fitness center and a sauna.
✅ Book the Hilton Budapest: The King Danube River Suit has epic views of the Parliament and Danube + access to the Executive Lounge!
4. Boutique Hotel Victoria Budapest

Book Boutique Hotel Victoria here – Hotel in Budapest with epic views of the river and the Parliament!
Views: Parliament, River Danube
⭐ Rating: 9.3/10 stars | 📍Location: Buda side (riverbank) | Check Rates and Availability
The Boutique Hotel Victoria Budapest is a high-end hotel but slightly cheaper than the other hotels with a river view. I recommend this hotel if you don’t need luxuries but still want to stay at a hotel with nice views of Budapest.
It has rooms that have river views and also rooms that have city street views only, so when booking a room, make sure to book the room with river views.
The rooms with the river views have massive windows overlooking the River Danube and the Parliament. The views are amazing! Some of the rooms also have a balcony where it’s nice to chill and get unobstructed views of the city.
There is a buffet breakfast included in the room rates. The hotel doesn’t have that many amenities, it has a sauna, but there is no swimming pool or spa. You can arrange an airport shuttle for an extra cost.
“An absolutely wonderful corner room on the 4th floor, with views of the Parliament Building across the river in one direction, and the Chain Bridge in the other direction. Parking was available, and the included breakfast had numerous options for varied tastes.” Richard, USA (see more reviews)
The Boutique Hotel Victoria Budapest is location on the Buda side of the city. If you are a first-time visitor in Budapest, it is better to stay on the Pest side. But there is a tram stop right outside the hotel that connects you to the rest of the city. If you don’t mind getting over to the Pest side for sightseeing, staying here is perfect to get views of the river and the Parliament.

The Pest side of the river is better to stay in Budapest (especially for first-time visitors) as it is close to all the major attractions and nightlife. From Pest, you can also easily go over to the Buda side to visit the Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastion. If you are looking for a quieter stay, then the Buda side (Buda Castle District) is better.

My Tips on Choosing a Hotel in Budapest with a River View
When looking for a hotel in Budapest with a river view, you should also consider on which side of the river you want to stay on. If you stay on the Pest side, you’ll get views over the Buda side (Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion). If you stay on the Buda side, you’ll get views of the Parliament. Generally, staying on the Pest side is better as it’s closer to all the attractions. Buda is best for a quieter stay.
If I had to choose, I would stay on the Pest side of the river. I’d see the Parliament from the Buda side when I go over there for sightseeing. Pest has more amenities and it is closer to all attractions, but it’s just my preference.
You should also consider your budget. Some of the hotels (Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace) are luxury high-end hotels, while others (Boutique Hotel Victoria) are slightly cheaper. Still, most of the hotels with a river view are upscale hotels with higher prices.
The InterContinental Hotel is a good in-between luxury and budget. It is located on the Pest side, right on the River Danube bank and you get epic views of the river, Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastion. It is also in close walking distance to major attractions, and well-connected by transport to other attractions further away.
