Visiting Budapest during Christmas is one of the best times to be in the city! I grew up in Budapest and used to visit the Christmas Markets every year. The Christmas Markets are located in central Budapest, and if you are visiting Budapest, the best is to book a place nearby so you can get to the markets by a short walk.
The two most popular Christmas Markets are the Basilica Christmas Market and the Vörösmarty Square Christmas Market. I recommend booking a hotel in Downtown Budapest close to either the St. Stephen’s Basilica or Deák Ferenc Square, that way, both Christmas Markets are close by.
Some of the best hotels in Budapest near the Christmas Markets are the Kempinski Hotel, Aria Hotel, and the Al Habtoor Palace. The Three Corner Downtown Hotel is a good mid-priced hotel nearby. I recommend booking the accommodation in advance as hotels can get sold out quickly in the run up to Christmas.

The Best Hotels in Budapest near the Christmas Markets
Budget Hotel
MAVERICK BUDAPEST SOHO

⭐ Rating: 8.9/10 stars | 📍Location: 7th District, Pest | Check Rates and Availability
The Maverick Budapest Soho is located in the 7th district of Budapest which is famous for its nightlife and ruin bars. It’s not exactly located at the Christmas Markets, but it’s nearby. Most of the budget accommodation is in this area in Budapest, and you can walk to the Christmas Markets (Basilica, Vörösmarty Square) in about 15 minutes.
The hotel has both dormitory and private rooms. I like that the dorm beds have curtains, so you get a bit more privacy. The breakfast is included in most of the room rates, and there is also a kitchen where you can cook. My friends stayed here once, and they found the kitchen was clean and liked that it has some basic utensils and spices that you can use.
It’s a budget accommodation, so there is no swimming pool or spa. But Budapest is pricey during Christmas, so if you are on a budget, then spending less on accommodation can help you save more money for activities in Budapest, like going on a river cruise or the thermal baths.

There is no spa or swimming pool, but there is a sauna, which is great to relax and warm up after exploring the Christmas Markets in the cold winter.
As the Three Corners Downtown Hotel centrally located, other major attractions are also in close walking distance. The Parliament, Shoes on the Danube Memorial, Danube River, and the Chain Bridge are all nearby.
